How a Deaf Santa Claus Comes To Be

Over 2% of the world lives with some form of hearing loss. It was only a matter of time before the world was gifted an authentic Deaf Santa Claus.

He laughs, signs, listens, and understands in a way only someone who’s lived the Deaf experience can. For some kids, he’s the first Santa Claus they can truly talk to. For parents, it’s a moment they never forget.

Important Conversations Start At Home

More than 90% of people who are Deaf, hard-of-hearing or have some form of hearing loss grow up in hearing families that do not sign. Imagine if every holiday tradition was designed to include them. That’s why we’re bringing this conversation into millions of homes through a national media and awareness campaign, inspiring families & friends to start new traditions together.

For many children, the holidays mirror everyday life at the dinner table—full of conversation, but not always full of access.

Deaf Santa Claus Foundation

Our mission is to create new lasting traditions for all children and their families by ensuring they are seen, valued, and fully included in the joy of the holiday season.

Deaf Santa Claus is more than a person or a film; it is an idea that expands the imagination of what is possible for children and their families & friends.

The Deaf Santa Claus Foundation seeks support in order to  bring this idea to communities through live appearances, extends its reach through film screenings, and deepens its impact through educational initiatives and national programming.

“Every child should be able to see a Santa that they can relate to, that they can understand, and is a reflection of themselves.”

“When I see the joy on parents’ faces surpass the awe in the children’s eyes … I know we’re etching a core memory.”

People Magazine

“By putting me in Santa’s chair in major locations in public, we’re validating that Santa Claus can be Deaf.”

Those Who Have Created Space Through the Years

We thank the organizations and companies who have stood with us over the years. Their support created space for Deaf Santa Claus in malls, schools, and communities — making Santa’s chair accessible to countless children and families who may have never experienced Deaf Santa Claus before.

As we prepare for the upcoming season, we invite new and returning event organizers to join us in carrying this tradition forward. Together, we can continue opening doors, creating access, and ensuring every child feels welcome in Santa’s chair.
