On Thursday, November 20, 2025, Deaf Santa Claus made its Washington State Premiere at the Grand Illusion Cinema in Seattle’s University District. The Grand Illusion is the longest-running independent movie theater in Seattle — a small, fiercely curated venue with one of the most discerning independent-film audiences in the Pacific Northwest.

The Grand Illusion booking was a strategic complement to the foundation’s later December 14, 2025 SIFF Cinema run, giving the film two distinctly different Seattle audiences: the Grand Illusion’s independent-cinema regulars and SIFF’s larger arthouse-festival audience. The Grand Illusion screening drew on the Awards Buzz review — Jonathan Friedtanzer’s “bubbly and lovable protagonist” line was prominently featured in venue marketing.

The screening was presented with open captions throughout, and ASL interpreters were available for community Q&A. As with every tour stop, the foundation worked closely with venue staff on accessibility logistics, audience outreach to the Seattle-area Deaf community, and partnerships with Pacific Northwest Deaf cultural organizations.
